Porsche To Debut Race-Ready 918 Coupe in Detroit

Reports out of Germany today indicate the Porsche 918expected for Detroitwill be race-ready. No word on Porsche's racing plans, but It'll be a closed coupe and have a V8 producing 600 hp instead of a fancy hybrid powertrain.

Bloombergreports two sources confirmed Porsche's plan, while Germany'sAutoBildsays the Detroit-bound 918 Porsche will be a closed coupe version of the hybrid 918 Spyder producing 600hp via a twin-turbo V8. That storybegan leaking outlast week. Don't expect pricing yet, but do expect sharp elbows at the Detroit stand on January 10.
